There are only two names in the NFL that have been floating around the last couple of weeks after the majority of high priced free agents got signed and they are Julius Peppers and Jay Cutler.

Trades happen in every sport, it is just part of the game, but one sport that rarely trades players is the NFL. In the NBA and NHL players get traded all the time, the trade deadline is a big deal, but in the NFL players only get traded do to bad blood.

This offseason has been filled with primetime players going elsewhere or signing enormous deals to stay with their current team, but the name Jay Cutler was never even a consideration for doing either, at least until Josh McDaniels came to Denver to replace Mike Shanahan.

Reportedly, McDaniels had developed a very good bond with Matt Cassel in New England. This bond between player and coach was so tight that McDaniels chose to put everything on the line and deal his new franchise quarterback in Jay Cutler for his former franchise quarterback in Matt Cassel.

On paper, after the two seasons these great quarterbacks had this deal doesn't look all that bad, but Cutler is a superstar figure in Denver and the first quarterback that actually has a chance at filling John Elway's shoes.

Dumb move to say the least. Yes, Cassel is a great up and coming quarterback in the NFL, but he couldn't have made a worse move to start his career in the shadow of a Denver legend in Shanahan.

Although no deals are in place after Cutler openly demanded to be traded from the Broncos, rumors are starting to go around that he might end up in Tampa Bay where he would have ended up if the three way deal bringing Cassel to Denver would have happened originally.

Some people are saying he will go to Detroit for the number one draft pick, but now the Bucs are in the mix as well.
